SCARECROW FESTIVAL
SCARECROW CONTEST
The Midlothian Downtown Business Association sponsors an annual Scarecrow Festival
each fall in October-November. This year the contest is October 21, 2023 - November 8, 2023. Festival entry is free of charge and open to anyone in Midlothian (individuals, families, groups, and businesses).
DATES: October 21st – Friday, November 3rd, 2023
The contest theme for 2023: Celebrate Fall
How it works:
- Download an entry form (click on the link at the bottom)
- Turn in entry form via email or in person
- Posts will be set up in Heritage Park, choose a post for your scarecrow (first come, first pick)
- Build your scarecrow ahead of time to attach to a post or build directly onto the post
Important dates:
• Deadline to turn in entry form is October 13
• Set up dates for scarecrows are October 17–21, 4:00pm - 8:00pm
• Winners will be announced November 3
• Scarecrow must be picked up by November 8
Scarecrows are displayed in Heritage Park with prizes issued for the following:
Overall GRAND PRIZE
Voted Best Overall: $500 prize
Judged Best GENERAL (18 AND OLDER)
1st Place: $200 prize 2nd Place: $150 prize 3rd Place: $75 prize
Judged Best Business/Service
1st Place: $200 prize 2nd Place: $150 prize 3rd Place: $75 prize
Judged Best Nonprofit Organization or Group

Judged Best Teen (6TH-12TH GRADE) $250 prize
